Sculptor James West of Studio Wild West celebrates the natural world with Our Path, a monumental, contemporary outdoor sculpture delicately laced with intricate laser carvings—each carving interacting with the environment through the use of positive and negative space. Our Path invites attendees to contemplate their role in the world with fusion and balance called to mind.

Collazo Collection, Booth R209
Collaborators both in life and on the canvas, Gabriel Collazo and Angela Brooks of Collazo Collection capture the meaning of partnership in its fullest sense. Collazo and Brooks create large-scale paintings together in a process that can take weeks per piece, as they witness the reaction of each added layer before progressing or deeming the work complete. Their evocative abstract works display incredible texture, visual balance, and movement, and the harmony between the two artists is evident in the work’s seamless style. Stop by to meet the pair and learn more about their story and art.

Meet Jacqueline Gilmore, and let her artwork speak to you. Gilmore believes that art should speak in a very personal way to the beholder. “To have someone look at your painting and be moved is extremely powerful,” she says. Her newest collection, Playing with Fire, debuts at Red Dot Miami. To keep in the tradition of her inspirations, a portion of Playing with Fire proceeds will go to North Bay Fire Relief to assist California fire victims and aid relief efforts.

3 p.m. MEET THE ARTIST: DANIEL MARIN

Meet Spanish-German artist Daniel Marin. One look at his artwork and you’ll see the influence of his years as a graphic designer as well as his accomplishments as a jewelry designer, each increasing the foundation of his true passion: painting.
After exploring different styles, techniques, and figurative subjects, he decided to express his ideas and emotions through abstract painting that allows him to better communicate his complex inner world. Inspired by the paths of well-known masters—Jackson Pollock, Cy Twombly, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko—Marin’s personal style evolved, merging oil, acrylic, enamels, spray, and collage techniques.

Jared Schwalb is a self-taught visual artist and the owner of Vehement Art. With a background in finance, Schwalb brings a methodical and analytical approach to all his artistic compositions. Peimbert Art of Los Angeles and Acapulco, Mexico, represents emerging and established artist from Mexico, Latin America, and around the world. Meet curator Arlette Peimbert, and let her take you on a tour. You’ll see the work of Xevi Vilaró, a multimedia artist who uses not only oil on canvas but also backlit acrylic glass and video to explore the true essence of human existence. You’ll also be entranced by Rodrigo de la Sierra’s tragic-comedy figure of Timoteo and his statements about the human ego and all its ramifications.

Ana Maria Nava has been intrigued by textiles for many years and translates her investigation into intricate glass interpretations. Come meet Nava and explore the multifaceted installation titled Aguazules. You’ll experience the mesmerizing impact of the textural effect of the glass, the vibrant colors, and the shadows created. Her architectural background becomes evident in the use of lines, dots, color, depth, volume, and strength. Learn how her explorations into the possibilities of glass continue to evolve—giving way to her next major work.

6 p.m. MEET THE ARTIST: SUZKA RENSSEN

Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Art District, Renssen Art Gallery features paintings, sculpture, and lithographs by Dutch artist Erik Renssen alongside a collection of high-quality lithographs, etchings, and pochoirs by Pablo Picasso, representing the fusion of contemporary and fine art. Come meet curator Suzka Renssen, and be as inspired as she is with the work of these two masters.

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Ricardo Cárdenas, a successful emerging Mexican artist whose popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. Learn how his clever use of building materials, including concrete, steel bars, and more, have become synonymous with Cárdenas artwork.

Upon first glance, you see the depth of the narrative in each of Marielle Plaisir’s exquisite tapestries and unique paintings. Meet Plaisir and hear her story, her influences, and inspirations. The essence of her artworks is theatrical—and we are drawn into the story and drama of each one. As a French-Caribbean artist, she blends life and fiction into her use of textiles, fibers, and fabrics and brings social commentary to each piece. Take one look at Venezuelan artist Hugo Diaz’s art and you’ll see immediately the influence of his degree in computer engineering. Each work is intricately created to engage the viewer with its energy and movement. Diaz is an important member of the new generation of Venezuelan kinetic art. This art genre is based on the aesthetic of the real alongside the virtual movement in geometric abstraction. His art represents a three-dimensional reality as optical illusions of vibration and contrasting brightly colored surfaces. Do you feel the vibration of his work?

Come watch and enjoy as Trina Merry creates one of her live camouflage body paintings! This live demonstration is related to her last series of artwork, which examines some of the world’s most expensive and iconic works of art while investigating art and its economy. Watch as she uses her own visual and conceptual vocabulary to clarify the points of juxtaposition between the organic human form and the hard lines of the world around us.

Meet master sculptor Jacinthe Dugal-Lacroix, and learn about her passion as an artist and how she has found success in major cities around the world. The chairs signify, according to the context, opportunities and the patience required for them to step into our lives. The ladders represent our desire to climb, to continue our personal growth. Beds represent periods when we sleep and dream, things we cannot share with anyone else. Playful characters are representative of the uniqueness and singularity of each of the moments that we experience throughout our lifetimes and the game that life is. Xolo Cantillo, the Barranquilla, Colombia, artist who wants to seduce Miami, creates his works and installations in acrylics. Cantillo achieved national recognition by participating in the cape worn by Goyo, a member of the Colombian group ChocQuibTown, for the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards. The Chocoana singer proudly wore the cape Cantillo created, which was praised for its originality. Come explore the originality of this acclaimed artist.
